Belle-île Wellness | Kinshasa Democratic Republic of Congo

This project proposes an architectural concept for a spa and wellness retreat in Kinshasa, designed as a peaceful sanctuary away from the urban rhythm. The retreat is composed of four small villas, each with a private swimming pool, offering guests an intimate and restorative experience.

The architecture is intentionally simple and human-scaled, encouraging calm, privacy, and a strong connection to nature. The villas are carefully positioned to create a sense of retreat while maintaining visual and spatial harmony across the site.

Local materials play a central role in the design. The use of clay and earth-based construction techniques reinforces a nearly vernacular character, rooted in the cultural and environmental context of Kinshasa. These materials provide natural thermal comfort while expressing authenticity, sustainability, and craftsmanship.

The project embraces a holistic approach to wellness, where architecture, materiality, light, and landscape work together to create an atmosphere of serenity and balance.
